FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 22, 2024 State Senator Al Landis Visits Village of Shreve, Ohio, to Tour Harold D. Miller Park and Shreve Elementary School Grounds Shreve, OH — On September 4, 2024, State Senator Al Landis, accompanied by his wife Debby Landis, visited the Village of Shreve to tour Harold D. Miller Park and the grounds of Shreve Elementary School. This visit underscored Senator Landis' ongoing efforts to secure vital funding for infrastructure improvements and community development in small villages like Shreve.

During the visit, Senator Landis toured Harold D. Miller Park, where his advocacy helped the village secure a $300,000 grant for significant park renovations. These funds will help enhance recreational facilities, creating a more vibrant and welcoming space for Shreve residents.

In addition, Senator Landis visited Shreve Elementary School and met with Principal Adam Stein to thank the district for the donation of the school grounds to the village, a move that will open new opportunities for expanding public space and development.

A key focus of Senator Landis’ efforts in Shreve has been securing funding for critical infrastructure improvements. Thanks to his leadership, the village received $1.75 million to replace its outdated trickle filter system at the water treatment plant with a new aeration system. To complete this essential project, the Village of Shreve has recently applied for an additional $500,000 in grant funding to match the capital grant funds, bringing the total to the required amount for construction.

Josiah Martin, Mayor, praised Senator Landis’ dedication to improving the village’s infrastructure. “Senator Landis has been an invaluable partner in securing the resources needed to improve our water treatment system and revitalize our community. His commitment has been instrumental in positioning Shreve for long-term success and growth. We are hopeful that the additional grant funding will soon allow us to complete this vital project.”

Speaking on the ongoing efforts, Senator Landis said, “Small villages like Shreve are the backbone of our state, and it's vital that we provide them with the support they need to thrive. These grants are a testament to the hard work and dedication of local leaders and community members, and I'm proud to be part of their journey toward growth and improvement.”

These initiatives are part of a broader plan to rehabilitate Shreve’s aging infrastructure, ensuring the village can serve its residents for years to come.
