Livestock Registration (Grandfathering)

Residents who are currently keeping livestock, rabbits, poultry, or waterfowl that do not comply with the ordinance’s restrictions are required to register their animals to remain in compliance. Registered animals will be "grandfathered" in, meaning they may continue to reside within Village limits as long as the following conditions are met:

  • The registration form must be completed and submitted to the Village of Shreve by the 31st of January each year.
  • No new animals may be added, and existing animals cannot be replaced if removed or upon their death.
  • Annual renewal of the registration is required by January 31st of each year.

To begin the registration process for grandfathered animals (animals which violate the ordinance that were owned prior to July 16th, 2024), please fill out the form below. You will be asked to provide information on the number and type of animals you are registering, as well as documentation on the acreage of your property.

4-H and FFA Project Animal Exception Requests

The Village of Shreve understands the importance of youth agricultural education programs like 4-H and FFA. If you are a participant in one of these programs and are keeping livestock, rabbits, poultry, or waterfowl in violation of the ordinance for a project, you may request a temporary exception.

To request an exception, complete the form below, and provide details about your 4-H or FFA project, including the type of animals involved and the project timeline. Exception requests will be reviewed by the Village, and accommodations may be granted at the Village’s discretion.
